Belmont-Paul Women's Equality National Monument

The Belmont-Paul Women's Equality National Monument is a US National Monument , in the district Capitol Hill in Washington, DC It was President Barack Obama by a Presidential Proclamation stated on 12 April 2016 and is reminiscent of the struggle for women's suffrage and Equal Rights for Women.

The house is named after the leaders of the National Woman's Party, Alva Vanderbilt Belmont and Alice Paul .

1800–1929 it was named Sewall House , 1929–1972 Alva Belmont House and 1972–2016 Sewall-Belmont House and Museum .

It has been the seat of the National Woman's Party since 1929 and has been under the administration of the National Park Service as the Sewall-Belmont National Historic Site since 2016 .

It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1974 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972
