Ben Caunt

Ben Caunt (born April 22, 1815 in Hucknall Torkard , † September 10, 1861 in London ) was a British boxer of the bare knuckle age. His nicknames were Torkard Giant and Big Ben . The name for the heaviest bell of the famous clock tower of the Palace of Westminster in London is possibly derived from the latter nickname .

He had his last fight on September 22, 1857 at the age of 42 against Nat Langham, who was five years his junior . This ended in a draw as both fighters were too exhausted to continue the fight.
