Ben Russell
Ben Russell (* 1976 in Springfield , Massachusetts ) is an American experimental filmmaker .
life and work
Russell studied at Brown University from 1994 to 1998 and received a BA in Art and Semiotics . Then Russell stayed with the Peace Corps in Suriname . The film Let Each One Go Where He May (2009) is based on this experience . In 2003 he graduated from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago with an MFA in Film and Video . Until 2011, Russell was an assistant professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago . Russell's collaboration with filmmaker Ben Rivers resulted in the films A Spell to Ward Off the Darkness (2013) and the experimental short film The Rare Event (2018).
