Benediktas Juodka (born January 13, 1943 in Utena ) is a Lithuanian biochemist and politician as well as rector of the Vilniaus universitetas (VU) and professor .

Life

From 1949 to 1960 Juodka attended the Gargždai Middle School . After graduating from high school, he completed his diploma in chemistry in 1965 , received his doctorate in 1968 and completed his habilitation in 1981 at Lomonossow University in Moscow . From 1968 he worked at the chair for biochemistry , biophysics and genetics , and was head of the chair from 1971 to 2002. From 1991 to 2001 he was Vice Rector, from 2001 to 2012 Rector. He has been a member of the Seimas since December 2012 . He was a member of the European Committee. He chairs the Committee on Foreign Affairs.

He is married. With his wife Tiina (* 1946), an Estonian translator, he has the son Robert Juodka, a lawyer who works in the Estonian business law firm "VARUL".
