Benedictine Abbey Paris
The Benedictine Paris is since 1893 the monastery of the Benedictine in the Rue de la Source in the 16th arrondissement in Paris . She belongs to the Congregation of Solesmes .
history
The Abbey of Saint-Martin de Ligugé founded the privately donated monastery of Sainte-Marie de Paris (today 5, Rue de la Source) in Paris . In 1898 a chapel was added. In 1900 the monastery was elevated to a priory . In view of the religious hostility of the Third Republic, the convent moved to Saint Michael's Abbey in Farnborough in England, but was able to return after the World War. The monastery was elevated to an abbey in 1925 . Librarian Jacques Dubois (1919–1991, dressed in 1942) excelled in science. Seven monks still live there today.
