Ritz Cyclecar Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in 1914 in Manhattan , New York City . Carl D. Ritzwoller, Solomon Satzauer and A. Russell Smith were involved as designers. In the same year the production of automobiles began, which took place at the Driggs Ordnance & Manufacturing Corporation . The brand name was Ritz . Some vehicles were exported to England . In early 1915, Ritz sued Driggs for missed deliveries, while Driggs claimed Ritz had failed to pay. In November 1916, a court ruled in Ritz's favor. By then the company had already been dissolved, because production ended in 1915. A total of 205 vehicles were built.

vehicles

On offer were small cars and not cycle cars , as the company name suggests.

The vehicles from 1914 had an air-cooled V2 engine . It was specified with 10/12 hp . The engine power was transmitted to the rear axle via a cardan shaft . The chassis had a wheelbase of 249 cm and a track width of 112 cm . The roadster offered space for two people side by side. The original price was 395 US dollars .

In 1915 a slightly larger model followed. It had a four-cylinder engine with water cooling . A 63.5 mm bore and 101.6 mm stroke resulted in a displacement of 1287 cm³ and an output of 15 hp. The wheelbase was lengthened to 254 cm. The curb weight was about 500 kg and the new price was 425 dollars.
