James MacNaughton Motor Car Company , previously MacNaughton & DuBroy Company , was an American manufacturer of vehicles . The short form James MacNaughton Company has also been handed down.

Company history

James MacNaughton worked for the German-American Automobile Company from 1902 to 1903 . At the end of 1905 he founded the MacNaughton & DuBroy Company with a partner in Buffalo , New York State . He made carriages and motors . In 1906, in collaboration with the Brunn Carriage Manufacturing Company, a number of passenger cars were created that were marketed as MacNaughton . In the same year the company name changed to James MacNaughton Motor Car Company . In 1907 MacNaughton made other automobiles . The brand name was now Hercules , possibly with the addition of Electric .

Carriage production continued for some time. MacNaughton also sold other manufacturers' vehicles .

Once again, only electric cars were on offer. The engine power was transmitted to the drive axle via a chain. The Model 140 was a runabout with either two or four seats. The Model 141 was bodied as a two-seater landaulet .

In addition, commercial vehicles with electric motors have survived.
