Saginaw Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Louis J. Lampke had previous automotive experience with the Palmer & Singer Manufacturing Company , the Lion Motor Car Company , and the Mount Pleasant Motor Company . In June 1916, he founded the company in Saginaw , Michigan . JA Cimmerer, JW Grant, HE Oppenheimer and WC Wiechmann were involved. In July 1916, automobile production began in the former Argo Electric Vehicle Company plant. The initially planned brand name Saginaw was discarded because the Lehr Motor Company was already using it for their vehicles. It was then Yale selected. Production ended in March 1918.

There was no association with the Kirk Manufacturing Company , which had used the same brand name a few years earlier.

vehicles

Only one model was on offer. It had a V8 engine . It was rated at 31 hp . The chassis had a wheelbase of 320 cm . In the first year there were only open touring cars with seven seats.

From 1917 a roadster with two seats and a speedster with three seats supplemented the available body options. Closed superstructures were announced, but were probably no longer manufactured.
