Borland-Grannis Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Bruce Borland took over the Ideal Electric Vehicle Company in January 1912 . UB Grannis was also involved. The company was based in Chicago , Illinois . In the same year the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Borland . In 1914 there was a merger with the Argo Electric Vehicle Company and the Broc Electric Vehicle Company to form the American Electric Vehicle Company , based in Saginaw , Michigan . Vehicles with the previous brand name were produced there until 1916.

Only electric cars were on offer . The power of the electric motors is not specified. A range of 160 km was guaranteed.

In 1912 there were the models CD and SD , where CD stood for chain drive and SD for cardan drive . Chain drive was more expensive and was no longer offered in the following years. The wheelbase was 234 cm. The only body shape was a brougham .

In 1913 there were five models in the range. The Model 45 was a four-seater Colonial Coupé with a 234 cm wheelbase. Model 41 and Model 50 were also four-seater coupés , but with a 236 cm wheelbase. The Model 52 was bodied on the same wheelbase as a two-seater roadster . The largest model was the Model 60 with a 312 cm wheelbase and body as a landaulet .

In 1914 there was a Coupé with the Model 50 and a Roadster with the Model 52 , both with 234 cm wheelbase. The Model 60 was now a 312 cm wheelbase sedan .

From 1915 to 1916 the range was changed slightly. The roadster was now called Model 56 , while the Coupé continued to be called Model 50 . Both had a chassis with a 244 cm wheelbase. For the sedan Model 60 , a wheelbase of 244 cm is now also specified.
