Aerocar Motor Company , previously The Aerocar Company , was an American manufacturer of automobiles . Another source names the name Aerocar Company .

Company history

The company was founded in Detroit , Michigan in 1906 and renamed in 1907. It manufactured automobiles between 1906 and 1908. The brand name was Aerocar . The investor was Alexander Y. Malcomson, who previously worked with Henry Ford . The designers were Milton O. Reeves for air-cooled engines and Leo Melanowski for water-cooled engines.

Hudson took over the plant in 1908.

The Model A was only available in 1906. At the same time, it was the only model that year. A five-seater touring car body was mounted on a chassis with a 264 cm wheelbase . The four-cylinder engine developed 24 hp .

The Model C from 1907 had a slightly weaker engine with 20 hp. The two-seater runabout also had a 264 cm wheelbase.

The Model D of the years 1907 and 1908 corresponded to the Model C except for the five-seater touring car body .

The Model E existed in 1908. The wheelbase and engine corresponded to the two aforementioned models. A touring car and a three-seater runabout were available.

The Model F was built between 1907 and 1908, a five-seater touring car with 292 cm wheelbase. Its four-cylinder engine developed 40 hp.
