WH Kiblinger Company was an American manufacturer of vehicles .
Company history
WH Kiblinger founded the company in Auburn , Indiana in 1887 . At first he made carriages and later also bicycles . WH McIntyre took over management after his death. In 1907 the production of automobiles began . The brand name was Kiblinger .
Problems began in 1909 when the Success Auto-Buggy Manufacturing Company sued for patent infringement. McIntyre took over the company and continued it as the WH McIntyre Company .
In 1907 131 vehicles were built . This number could be increased to 218 in 1908. For 1909, 264 vehicles have survived, although this may already include vehicles from the new company.
Motor vehicles
Only high-wheelers were on offer . With their big wheels, they were well suited for the bad roads of the time. The chassis had a uniform 165 cm wheelbase . Open two and four-seaters are mentioned.
The Model A had a single cylinder engine with 4 hp . This was unusual because many competitors used two-cylinder engines. The original price was 250 US dollars , which was very low.
Model B and Model C had a slightly more powerful single cylinder engine that made 6 hp.
Model D , Model E and Model F had a two-cylinder engine. 95.25 mm bore and also 95.25 mm stroke resulted in 1357 cm³ displacement . The engine output was specified with 10 hp.
Another source mentions in addition the Model H . The enlarged bore of 104.775 mm with the same stroke made for 1642 cm³ displacement. The engine developed 12 hp. The wheelbase was 177 cm.
