Company history

The company was founded in Detroit , Michigan in the spring of 1913 . Alvan M. Dodge, Joseph Hofweber and George Wahl were involved. Automobile production began in the summer of 1913. The brand name was Wahl . The company also offered to produce unbranded vehicles so dealers or buyers could add their own branding. The basic chapter was small, so that financial problems quickly arose. Wahl committed suicide on October 6, 1913. In December 1913, the first bankruptcy began . In February 1914, Dodge left the company to form the short-lived Dodge Motor Car Company . Bankruptcy followed in October 1914 .

Albert C. Barley of the Barley Manufacturing Company bought the leftovers in December 1914. In 1915 the Massnick-Phipps Manufacturing Company took over the plant.

Only one model was on offer. The 25 HP had a four-cylinder engine of Hazard . 95.25 mm bore and 114.3 mm stroke resulted in a displacement of 3258 cm³ . The engine output was specified with 25 hp . The chassis had a wheelbase of 274 cm .

In the first year, a two-seat roadster was $ 750 and a five-seat touring car was $ 790. In 1914 the price for both variants was increased to a uniform $ 890.
