Mills Electric Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was based in Lafayette , Indiana . Herbert A. Keller, Eldon L. Lewis and Byron J. Mills were involved. Another source also mentions CJ Mertz and states that they were the founders. They made some automobiles in 1917. The brand name was Mills Electric . The company said it had 100 orders and plans to sell 200 cars in the first year.

After 1917 the track of the company is lost.

Only electric cars were on offer . Some were noticeably small so they could be driven on the sidewalk . Special versions for women and people with physical disabilities were at least planned.

An electric motor with 3 HP power was mounted in the front of the vehicle under a hood. The batteries were under the seat. The vehicles were open and had a canopy.
