Coates-Goshen Automobile Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Joseph Saunders Coates had already made an automobile in 1905. In 1908 he founded a company in Goshen in the US state of New York . In 1909 he presented a vehicle at an automobile show in New York's Crystal Palace . The brand name was Coates-Goshen . Production ended in 1910 after a fire destroyed the factory. Bankruptcy followed in October 1911 .

A total of 32 vehicles were built. Fritzi Scheff and Monty Woolley were among the buyers .

In 1909, the model names consisted of the word model plus horsepower as a number. In 1910, Model was dropped , instead the value of engine power was written as a numeric word . All vehicles had a four-cylinder engine .

In 1909 the Model 25 had an engine with 25 hp. The wheelbase was 284 cm. Six -seat town car , four-seat runabout and four-seat baby tonneau have been handed down. In the Model 32 the engine developed 32 HP. The chassis had a 295 cm wheelbase. Runabout and Baby Tonneau corresponded to the smaller model. The third body variant was a five-seater touring car .

In 1910 the range comprised three models. The Thirty-Two corresponded to the previous year's model. The runabout was omitted. In the Forty-Five , the engine developed 45 hp. The wheelbase was 312 cm. There was a choice of five- and seven-seater touring cars and a four-seater runabout. The largest model, Sixty , had a 356 cm wheelbase and a touring car body that offered space for seven people. The engine developed 60 hp.
