Sterling Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Alonzo R. Marsh left Vulcan Manufacturing Company in Ohio and returned to his hometown of Brockton , Massachusetts . There he founded the new company together with his brothers in December 1914. It should be viewed as the successor company to the American Motor Company . In June 1915 the first prototype was ready. Then the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Sterling . Production ended in May 1916. The plant was taken over by the Consolidated Ordnance Company , also owned by Marsh.
