Caps Brothers Manufacturing Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The Caps brothers operated the printing press company in Kansas City , Missouri . In 1902 they manufactured a passenger car , which was followed by several others by 1905, which were sold in the vicinity. The brand name was Caps . By 1905 they were looking for donors to found a company to manufacture vehicles.

In 1905 a local bank decided to help. The Farmer's Auto-Motor Car Company in the same place was founded. Bankers took the lead. F. Burleigh Johnson became president, while JK Hudson also served in an executive position. A facility in Kansas City was selected for production. Shortly after production began, the bankers decided to part ways with the Caps brothers. The Kansas City Motor Car Company took over the plant.

The first vehicle had an air-cooled two-cylinder engine with 14 hp . The setup as a runabout offered space for two people. This was followed by several tonneaus with side entry.
