Holyoke Automobile Company , previously Holyoke Motor Works , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
Charles R. Greuter came from Switzerland . He made two prototypes in 1898 . In 1899 he went into business for himself and founded Holyoke Motor Works in Holyoke , Massachusetts . In April 1899, the plans amounted to ten vehicles per month, which were sold as Holyoke . In April 1900, the name was changed to Holyoke Automobile Company .
In August 1903 it merged with the Matheson Automobile Company .
vehicles
Automobiles with gasoline engines were on offer . The first vehicles had a two-cylinder engine with 7 hp . The OHV valve control was progressive for the time . The structure had four seats and was called a trap .
The following vehicles were noticeably heavy. A Surrey with an empty weight of 1270 kg , a Phaeton with 680 kg and a Stanhope with 1360 kg have been handed down.
