Oxford Manufacturing Company was an American manufacturer of vehicles .

Company history

The company was founded in 1900 as a merger of two companies. One was the Carroll Manufacturing Company of Philadelphia , the bikes had made. The other was the Smith Manufacturing Company of Newark , New Jersey , which previously made engines . The seat was in Oxford , Pennsylvania . The Parkin family ran the company. The plan was to produce bicycles, tricycles, motorcycles , automobiles and engines. The brand name for vehicles was Oxford . Motors, on the other hand, were sold as Parkin . In fact, about eight motorcycles and a few automobiles were made. Vehicle production ended in the same year. Engines were made until 1903. Then the company was dissolved.

The Parkin family then moved to Philadelphia and founded Parkin & Sons there .

There was no connection to Oxford Automobile Company of Maine , which used the same brand name.

vehicles

The automobile was called the Autocycle . It probably had a gasoline engine because the Parkin engines were gasoline engines. The vehicle was available with three and four wheels. The open structure offered space for two people. The original price was 400 US dollars .
