Rapid Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles . There is also the spelling Rapids Motor Car Company .
Company history
The company was founded in Grand Rapids , Michigan in 1903 . In the same year the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Rapid . In March 1903 a car magazine reported about it.
In June 1903 MB Martin took over the company. The reasons for the purchase are unknown. He did not continue production.
The company should not be confused with the commercial vehicle manufacturer Rapid Motor Car Company from Pontiac , Michigan, which operated between 1904 and 1909 and was then taken over by General Motors .

Only one model is known. It had a two-cylinder engine with 15 hp . The engine power was transmitted to the rear axle via a three-speed gearbox and two chains. The chassis had a wheelbase of 213 cm . The original price was 2000 US dollars .
