United States Auto-Motor Company , previously the United States Automobile Company , was an American manufacturer of automobiles . Another source only mentions the original company name.

Company history

Frank Mossberg ran the Frank Mossberg Company for the production of bicycle bells. In 1899 he also founded the United States Automobile Company in Pawtucket , Rhode Island . The factory was in Attleboro , Massachusetts . In the same year the production of automobiles began. The brand name was United States .

In 1901 or 1902 Mossberg resigned and moved to the Webster Automobile Company . The new owners bought the rights to a vehicle that James E. Blake had designed. A little later it went bankrupt .

In 1903 Mossberg took over what was left of the company. His partner became Homer M. Daggett, who bought what was left of Webster. The new company name was United States Auto-Motor Company . The United States brand name was retained. Production ended in 1903.

Other American manufacturers of passenger cars under this brand name were United States Motor Vehicle Company and United States Construction Company .

Blake's vehicles had a gasoline engine .

From 1903 both types of vehicle continued to be offered.
