Frank Mossberg Company was an American company in the mechanical engineering sector and manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
Frank Mossberg founded the company in Providence , Rhode Island in 1899 . In 1900 he moved to Attleboro , Massachusetts . At first it made bicycle bells. Around 1900 there were 200 employees who produced 250,000 pieces per year. In 1899 Mossberg designed a prototype of an automobile . In 1900 he announced the production. Between 1900 and 1901 he made two vehicles. At least one was sold. The brand name was Mossberg . In later years, accessories were made for the automotive industry.
In 1927 a reorganization led to the APCO-Mossberg Company . An Apco Mossberg Co has existed since December 8, 1937. The Apco Mossberg Torque Tool & Mfg. cites the Frank Mossberg Company as the original company. This company was active in Attleboro from October 26, 2009 to June 30, 2017.
Motor vehicles
The prototype from 1899 was an electric car . The series vehicles should also have electric motors .
In fact, from 1900 the vehicles had petrol engines . The original price was 1,500 US dollars .
