Rhode Island Auto Carriage Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

William Hughes and Joseph W. Atkin jointly operated a retail outlet for bicycles . The seat was on Plainfield Street in Olneyville ( Providence ) in Rhode Island . In 1899 they founded a new company for the production of automobiles. The brand name was Hughes & Atkin . Production ended in 1904 when the partners separated. A total of 18 vehicles were built.

Steam cars were on offer . The steam engines had two cylinders. The bodies were open. One source names one- and two-seater, another two- and four-seater. There were also delivery trucks .
