Munson Electric Motor Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
The company was founded in Chicago , Illinois in 1896 . John M. Munson and PM Heldt were involved as designers. A first vehicle was created. Then the company moved to La Porte , Indiana, and began series production of automobiles there. The brand name was Munson . Now William Niles was President, Meinrad Rumely Vice President, CS Fahnestock Secretary and Treasurer, and WH Phelps Superintendent. Production ended in 1900.
Plans for a Munson Safety Automobile Company as a successor failed.
vehicles
Only hybrid electric vehicles were on offer . A two- or four-cylinder - petrol engine powered a generator. It supplied the electric motor with voltage and it drove the rear axle.
There was a choice of four different structures. These were a two-seat buggy, a four-seat Surrey , an eleven-seat omnibus , and a delivery truck that was listed as 3000 lb (1360 kg).
