CF Sparks Machine Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles , engines, and boats .
Company history
The company was based in Alton , Illinois . In 1903 it made some automobiles. The brand name was Sparks . Engines were offered in 1904. The main line of business was the manufacture of yachts .
1914 sold CS Sparks the company offers a syndicate of St. Louis .
There was no connection with the Sparks Automobile Company , which from 1899 onwards used the same brand name for its passenger cars.
Products
The passenger cars were created according to customer orders. One buyer was Oscar J. Conrad. An illustration shows a runabout .
The engines offered were two - cylinder boxer engines . They made between 12 and 15 hp .
Four-cylinder four - stroke engines were offered for boats .
One of the ships was described in a November 1908 magazine about motor boats. It had a four-cylinder, four-stroke engine with an output of 20 hp. The length was 12.5 meters (41 feet ).
