Sumner was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Harry Sumner ran the company as a mechanical workshop in Cincinnati , Ohio . Between 1901 and 1902 he manufactured a number of automobiles. The brand name was Sumner .

Sumner responded to customer requests. The vehicles had a gasoline engine . EV Wilbern stated that with one of these vehicles he drove the distance from Cincinnati to Hamilton , at least 48 km, in 55 minutes.

At the beginning of 1902 another vehicle was built for Wilbern. It was an open touring car with six seats. Wilbern planned a trip around the world with it. The Cincinnati Enquirer reported the plans on June 11, 1902.
