Messerer Automobile Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles . Two patents confirm this name. Another source uses the name Stephen Messerer Automobile Company .

prehistory

Stephen Messerer was a watchmaker and jeweler in Newark , New Jersey . There he manufactured a passenger car as early as 1897 and founded the S. Messerer Motor Wagon Company for this purpose . Series production did not take place.

Company history

In 1899 he founded the new company in the same town with the financial help of local businessmen Joseph Fisch, Adolph Goldfinger and Julius E. Seitz. They started with the production of commercial vehicles . The brand name was Messerer . In 1901 cars were added. Production ended in the same year.
