National Automobile and Motor Company , formerly the National Automobile Company , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
HH Muggley and Charles Jameson founded the National Automobile Company in 1902 in Oshkosh , Wisconsin . Marion Black was the designer. He completed the first vehicle in August 1902. The brand name was National . The two founders hoped in vain for help from the city to introduce series production.
So they moved to Milwaukee , Wisconsin. There they founded the National Automobile and Motor Company in February 1903 . Or maybe it was just a change of name. Production started. The Weber Cycle Company from the same building that sold General Automobile & Manufacturing Company vehicles sold the vehicles. Bankruptcy followed in September 1903 .
Other US manufacturers of passenger cars of the brand National were National Motor Company (1899-1900) and National Motor Vehicle Company (1900-1924).
vehicles
The first vehicle from August 1902 had a hood similar to that of Renault vehicles . At Renault, the water cooler was mounted behind the engine, which meant there was no need for a radiator grille that was visible from the front . However , it is not known whether the engine was water- cooled or air-cooled at the National . The structure was a touring car with four seats. The original price is $ 1500 .
