Porter Motor Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
Major D. Porter, physician Abner T. Wells, and Dalton Fallon founded the company in 1900. Porter was the inventor and had been in the engine business since 1886, the other two the financiers. The headquarters were in Boston , Massachusetts , while the plant was in nearby Allston . They started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was Porter . Production ended in 1901.
There was no connection to American and British Manufacturing Corporation , as are the several years later passenger cars brand Porter offered.

The only model was a steam car . It had a steam engine with two cylinders . The open structure was made of aluminum . It was a runabout with space for two people. A special feature was that the engine stopped when the steering and control lever was released. The new price was between 750 and 1000 US dollars .
