Hidley Automobile Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

JH Hidley ran a bicycle repair shop in Troy , New York . In February 1901 he began building a steam car in the window of his shop . He made many parts himself. During the several months of construction there were many spectators and admirers, which was a kind of advertisement for Hidley. Based on these reactions, he decided in late 1901 to found the Hidley Automobile Company and commercially manufacture and market motor vehicles . The brand name was Hidley . After 1902 the track of the company is lost.

Only steam cars were on offer. It was powered by a steam engine with 8 hp . A two-seat runabout for $ 750 and a four-seat trap for $ 800 were available as superstructures . A delivery truck for $ 900 is also mentioned .
