Strong & Rogers was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Edwin L. Strong and Lewis H. Rogers founded the company in Cleveland , Ohio , in 1900 . In the same year the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Strong & Rogers . In September 1900, vehicles were presented at the Chicago Inter-Ocean Tournament and in November 1900 at the first automobile show in Madison Square Garden in New York City . In March 1901 Rogers had to leave the company due to illness. Strong went on alone for a few months. Production ended in 1901.

Only electric cars were on offer . An electric motor with 2.5 hp was mounted on the rear axle and drove the right rear wheel. The 40 cell batteries came from Willard . They allegedly could be charged in 45 minutes and allowed a range of 48 to 64 km at a speed of 26 km / h. The transmission offered six forward and four reverse gears. Runabout and Stanhope have been handed down as body designs . The new prices were 1200 US dollars for the standard version and 2,000 dollars for the luxury version.
