Automotor Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
Hinsdale Smith founded the company in Springfield , Massachusetts in 1901 . The predecessor is Springfield Cornice Works with the Meteor brand. The production of automobiles began. The brand name was Automotor . Production ended in 1904.
vehicles
The first model had a four-cylinder engine that was specified with 16/20 hp. The maximum speed was given as 72 km / h. Such vehicles have been used successfully on a half mile drive from New York City to Boston and back, as well as a 160-mile drive without stopping. The Springfield Metal Body Company made the four-seat tonneau body out of aluminum .
There were also two smaller models. Single cylinder engines from De Dion-Bouton with either 3.5 HP or 5 HP powered the vehicles. They were bodied as a runabout .
