Company history
The Erie Cycle & Manufacturing Company was founded in Anderson , Indiana in 1896 . She made bicycles . In 1898 it became the Erie Cycle & Motor Carriage Company . JB Lott was president. He also took up the production of automobiles. The brand name was Erie , occasionally Werts . Besides, the name Herald was at least planned. In 1902 the name was changed to Erie Motor Carriage and Manufacturing Company . Halladay Motors Corporation took over the company in late 1902 .
There was no association with the Erie Motor Car Company , which used the same brand name a few years later.

Small cars were on offer. It was powered by a single-cylinder engine made in-house. The new prices were between 350 and 600 US dollars .
In 1902 there were experiments with a steam car .
