Gas Engine & Power Company was an American manufacturer of engines and automobiles .

Company history

FW Ofeldt founded the company. The seat was in Morris Heights, an area in the Bronx in the US state of New York . Mainly it made engines. In 1904 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Speedway . The designer was Budd D. Gray. The Charles L. Seabury & Company was involved in the production. Motor vehicle production ended in 1905. That year WS Howard joined the company.

Around 1908 it came to the merger with Charles L. Seabury & Company for Gas Engine & Power Company & Charles L. Seabury Company .

Engines were supplied to the Howard Automobile Company .

Only one car model was on offer. It had a four-cylinder engine with 28 hp . The engine power was transmitted to the rear axle via a cardan shaft . The chassis had a wheelbase of 274 cm . The structure was a tonneau with side doors and space for five people. The original price was 4700 US dollars . One source describes this price as exceptionally high.
