Wayne Automobile Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The designer William E. Kelly founded the company in Detroit , Michigan in 1902 . He was looking for investors. JB Brook, Charles Palms, EA Skae and Roger J. Sullivan then took part. In 1904 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Wayne , named after Anthony Wayne . In January and February 1904, the first vehicles were shown at the automobile shows in New York City and Chicago . Almost 600 vehicles were built in 1907. In 1907 Byron Everitt became president. In June 1908 it merged with the Northern Manufacturing Company . Production ended in the summer of 1908.

The Everitt-Metzger-Flanders Company is considered the successor company.

vehicles

The vehicles are described as solidly constructed. The smaller models had a planetary gearbox and chain drive, while the larger models had an ordinary gearbox and cardan drive .

1904 there was only the Model A . It had a two-cylinder engine with 16 hp that was mounted under the front seat. The chassis had a wheelbase of 203 cm . The structure was an open touring car with five seats.

In 1905 this model remained unchanged. The Model B had the same engine, but 229 cm wheelbase and was as Tonneau karosseriert with partial boarding. The Model C was new . It had a four-cylinder engine with 24 hp. The wheelbase was 259 cm. The only body shape was a five-seater touring car.

In 1906 there were six models to choose from. Model G as a four-seater touring car and Model N as a two-seater runabout had a two-cylinder engine with 14 hp and a chassis with a 208 cm wheelbase. The Model C ranked above this . It also had a two-cylinder engine, but with an output of 20 hp. The 229 cm wheelbase made it possible to build a touring car with five seats. The Model B was the weakest of the four-cylinder models . The engine was specified with 24/28 hp. The wheelbase was 259 cm. The Model K had a 35 horsepower engine and a 254 cm wheelbase. Top model was the model F . It had a 50 hp engine. The wheelbase measured 297 cm. All three models were touring cars with five seats.

In 1907 the two-cylinder models were discontinued. Model K had an engine with 35 hp, 259 cm wheelbase and a five-seater touring car body. The only difference between the Model N was the wheelbase, which was slightly longer at 272 cm. Model R ranked above this . Its engine developed 50 hp. The 305 cm wheelbase made it possible to set up a seven-seater touring car.

In 1908 there was only the Model 30 . The engine was specified with 35 hp. The wheelbase was 269 cm. Touring cars with five seats, roadsters with two seats and Tourabout with four seats have been handed down.
