JW Mount & Bro. , previously John W. Mount , was an American manufacturer of vehicles .

Company history

John W. Mount founded the company of the same name in Red Bank , New Jersey , in 1860 . At first he made carriages . In the 1860s, the younger brother Cornelius S. Mount joined the company, which is now called JW Mount & Bro. traded. In 1908 automobiles were added. The brand name was Mount .

On June 12, 1908, a fire destroyed the plant. Around 100 carriages were under construction. The damage was about 60,000 US dollars . The sum insured was only $ 8,000.

Then the JW Mount Company was founded.
