Lorraine Automobile Manufacturing Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in 1907 in Chicago , Illinois . John O. Hobbs was the designer. Automobile production began at the end of 1907. In December 1907, the first vehicles were at the Chicago Automobile Show . The brand name was Lorraine . Production ended in 1908.

There were no ties with the Lorraine Car Company and Lorraine Motors Corporation , which used the same brand name a few years later.

The vehicles had an elastic cardan shaft , which was not explained further. As well as a starter , which was unusual for the time.

A model was the Model L . It had a four-cylinder engine that was specified with 50/55 hp . The chassis had a wheelbase of 315 cm . The structure as an open touring car offered space for seven people.

The other model series had a smaller four-cylinder engine that was specified with 25/30 hp. The wheelbase was 279 cm. Model M was available as a five-seat touring car and also as a five-seat sedan . Model N was called the Gentleman’s Roadster .
