Belden Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

EH Belden founded the automobile manufacturing company in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania in 1907 . The brand name was Belden . In the first year only a prototype was made , and series production did not start in 1908 either. In 1909 the production plans amounted to 100 vehicles. Production ended in 1911.

The prototype from 1907 had a four-cylinder engine with 30 hp . The chassis had a wheelbase of 315 cm . A seven-seater touring car body was mounted on it.

From 1908, two models with a six-cylinder engine were available , of which the Model A was usually stronger and longer.

For Model A , an engine with 40/50 hp is specified in 1908, 40/60 hp in 1909 and then 70 hp. The wheelbase was 323 cm in the first year, 335 cm in the second year and 345 cm thereafter. In the first year there was only a five-seat touring car and a seven-seat town car , in 1909 there was both a seven-seat touring car and a five-seat overland touring car, in 1910 only the open seven-seater and last year seven-seat touring cars and limousines .

The Model B was specified with 40/60 hp in the first two years and then with 50 hp. The wheelbase was initially 305 cm and from 1910 335 cm. The three-seater roadster from the first two years was replaced by two- and four-seater versions in 1910. In 1911 there was a choice of four-seat touring car roadster, five-seat touring car tonneau and six-seat sedan.
