Multiplex Manufacturing Company is a US company and a former manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in Berwick , Pennsylvania in 1905 . It manufactured automobiles from 1912 to 1913 and from 1953 to 1954. The brand name was Multiplex .

The company is still active.

vehicles

From 1913 there was the 50 HP , designed by F. Bingaman. Its four-cylinder engine came from Waukesha Engines . The wheelbase was 340 cm (134 inches ). The choices were Raceabout , Roadster and Touring . Of these, 14 vehicles were built. One vehicle won a road race in 1913. A sporty version that only had a wheelbase of 216 cm (85 inches) remained a prototype .

Fritz Bingaman designed a prototype in 1953. It had a tubular frame chassis, an aluminum body and a four-cylinder Singer engine . Four- and six-cylinder engines from Willys-Overland and Willys Motor Company were used in the series production of the vehicle now named 186 . There was a choice of coupé and roadster. The bodies were now made of fiberglass and resembled the sports cars from Cisitalia .
