Dearborn Automobile Company Inc. was an American company in the field of automobiles and vehicle manufacturers.
Company history
Alex Dearborn founded the company on April 28, 1967. The headquarters were initially in Marblehead , Massachusetts . In that year the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Deserter . There was a collaboration with Autodynamics from the same city. Vehicle production ended in 1971. A total of around 1250 vehicles were built.
The company was active in the restoration sector for many years. Topsfield in Massachusetts has been handed down as the last seat . It was disbanded on June 18, 2012.
Buggy-Center-Hamburg G. Kühn from Hamburg was a licensee .
vehicles
The first model was a VW buggy . It was based on a chassis from the VW Beetle that was shortened to 213 cm (84 inches ). An open body made of fiberglass was mounted on top.
The GS was based on a tubular frame from Autodynamics. It was driven by boxer engines from the Chevrolet Corvair , Porsche 911 or Porsche 912 , which were mounted in a mid-engine design behind the seats.
