Automobili Intermeccanica was a manufacturer of automobiles from the United States .

Company history

Frank Reisner , who previously ran Costruzione Automobili Intermeccanica in Italy , and Tony Baumgartner founded the company in 1976 in Santa Ana . In 1977 they started producing automobiles. The brand name was again Intermeccanica . Around 200 vehicles were built in the first year. In 1979 Baumgartner paid Reisner out.

Classic Motor Carriages later took over the company. One source states that US production ended in 1982. A total of 608 vehicles were built in the USA.

The only model Intermeccanica Speedster was a replica of the Porsche 356 Speedster . A shortened chassis from the VW Beetle formed the basis. An open body made of fiberglass was mounted on top.
