Thoroughbred Coach Builders Inc. , previously Thoroughbred Cars and Thoroughbred Motorcars , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
The company Thoroughbred Cars , later renamed Thoroughbred Motorcars , was in 1982 Redmond in the state of Washington was founded. The production of automobiles began. The brand name was Thoroughbred . From May 25, 1995 the company traded as Thoroughbred Coach Builders Inc. based in Mount Dora , Florida . Directors were Gil and Shirley Longnecker. Production continued to take place in Redmont. 15 people were employed. Production ended in 2009. On June 6, 2010, the death of Gil Longnecker and the closure of the business were announced on the company's website.
vehicles
Replicas of vehicles from Mercedes-Benz were on offer . The models mentioned are the 540 K , 300 SL as a coupé with gullwing doors and the 300 SLR . A ladder frame formed the basis. Various engines from Chevrolet and Ford powered the vehicles.
There was also a 1936 style pickup truck .
There was also a connection to the Briton Leonard Witton and his model Witton Tiger , which later became the British car brand Merlin .
