Dow Testing Laboratory

The US Dow Testing Laboratory and Dow Testing Laboratories belonged to the Edison Group and were located in Detroit . Another source uses the name Detroit Testing Laboratories . Only in 1960 did they also work as an automobile manufacturer and built a small electric vehicle under the direction of Douglas Dow .

The small runabout with two seats was called Dow Electric and was powered by two electric motors, each developing 330 W. Three 12 V batteries and four 2 V batteries were responsible for the power supply. The range was 48 km. The wheelbase of the vehicle was 1194 mm, the total length 1880 mm. The selling price fluctuated between US $ 500 and US $ 800.

As an accessory, there was a single-axle trailer that carried a generator with a 2.5 hp (1.8 kW) petrol engine. It cost US $ 150.
