Pup Motor Car

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pup Motor Car Company was an American automobile manufacturer based in Spencer, Wisconsin , in 1948 and 1949 .

The Pup introduced in 1948 was a very simple, open runabout with two seats, no doors and no roof. The chassis was made of oak and had a wheelbase of 1829 mm. The 2591 mm long structure was mostly made of plywood. A single-cylinder engine from Briggs & Stratton was installed at the rear, delivering 7.5 bhp (5.5 kW).

In 1949 this vehicle was replaced by a brand new Pup. Although it followed similar construction principles, the wooden frame chassis now had a wheelbase of 1727 mm and the smooth-surfaced structure was 2845 mm long. In contrast to its predecessor, there was also a fabric roof and fabric doors. The single-cylinder engine had given way to a two-cylinder in-line engine from the same manufacturer, which achieved 10 bhp (7.4 kW).

The Pup cost US $ 595 in both years of production. In 1949 it was possible to purchase a fabric roof for US $ 50 and the fabric doors for US $ 25.
