The Taylor-Dunn Manufacturing Company is an American commercial vehicle and automotive manufacturers , who in since 1949, Anaheim (California) is a resident.

description

The company was founded by the farmer RD Taylor . In the beginning, agricultural equipment was produced, including an electric cart used to transport chicken feed. Various three or four wheeled open electric carts were made. The tricycles always had a single front wheel and the rear axle was powered by a 36 V engine. The engine power in both models was 1.84  kW . Six 6 V batteries with 170  Ah (or optionally also 217 Ah) provided the electrical energy.

The R model had two seats and a loading area. But there were also versions with four seats. The three-wheelers had a wheelbase of 1499 mm and were 2515 mm long, the four-wheelers had a wheelbase of 1524 mm and the total length was 2591 mm.

In 1955, the three-wheeled model PG was the first vehicle for passenger transport ( Neighborhood Electric Vehicle , NEV). A successor appeared in 1959 with the three-wheeled, two-seater Trident which was optionally available with a steering wheel or steering lever and with hand or foot actuation for acceleration and braking. The vehicle had a fixed roof but no doors. Waterproof textile inserts could be clipped onto the side as weather protection.

Today the company manufactures a wide range of light vehicles that are predominantly electrically operated. Main areas of application are factory areas and warehouses. Taylor-Dunn offers over 50 standard models and special designs derived from them, called Customs . Potential applications of this are works fire brigades , ambulances , fuel trucks , special vans or wheelchair vans.

Most vehicles are not built for normal road traffic.
