Custom Classics was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was initially based in Bellflower , California . In 1983 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Magnum . Lyle Mader later took over the company and relocated to Madison , South Dakota . Production ended in 1989.

Only one model was on offer. It was largely identical to the Kelmark GT from Kelmark Engineering , which in turn was inspired by the Ferrari Dino 246 . The front design, the front trunk and the doors differed. Many vehicles had the chassis of the Volkswagen Beetle and a rotary engine from Mazda . Some versions had a different steel chassis designed to accommodate a mid-engine . Various Mazda or V6 engines powered these vehicles. They had disc brakes on all four wheels. According to the company, the V6 engine came from General Motors .
