Elegant Motors Inc. was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

DO Amy and H. Passwater founded the company in Indianapolis , Indiana . Another source gives the full names of Del Amy and Richard Passwater. This happened on July 17, 1973. The production of automobiles and kit cars began. The brand name was Elegant , possibly with the addition of Motors . As of March 6, 1980 there was a branch in Sarasota , Florida . Production ended in 2000 or 2009. On April 12, 2013 the company was dissolved.

A source states that Harry Broaddus, a former employee, took over the company and renamed it Indy Exotics . This Indianapolis-based company existed from March 28, 1994 through March 3, 2003.

Classic City Motors from Auburn , Indiana, is said to have taken over both companies in 2007 . This company existed from June 14, 2007 to March 14, 2013.

Mostly replicas of classic automobiles were on offer . These included AC Cobra , Cheetah , Lamborghini Countach and Mercedes-Benz 500K .

The 852 Auburn Speedster , 856 Auburn Speedster, and 898 Auburn Replica were replicas of models from Auburn .

The 820 SC Cord Phaeton was similar to a model from Cord .

The La Grande Sportster (also called Le Grande Sportster ) model was a little more independent . It was inspired by a Duesenberg from the 1930s.
