history

The "Sternen" was first mentioned in 1648 as an inn in Thayngen. Until 1659, the "Sternen" landlord had to deliver the rent (rent) to the Sankt Blasien monastery . This was 1 courage kernel per year (the usual measure at the time), 1 chicken, 5 Kreuzer , and 20 Kreutzer to the school. In 1792 the inn burned down, with it «Schwanen», «Krone», 6 barns and 3 gates.

In 1929 the "Sternen" was an inn. The story of Thayngen quotes that the "Sternen" was an inn of "better rule". It was a so-called tavern, which had to pay a higher fee to the state than the usual “pintin bars” in the village.

For a while, the "Sternen" was used as a registry office, it can still be booked as a wedding venue. Today the "Haus zum Sternen" is used as a cultural center.

Foundation stars

With the minutes of June 23, 2009, after long discussions, it was decided to transfer the future sponsorship of the “Star Culture Museum”, which shows old furnishings, some of which were previously exhibited in Thayngen Castle , to a foundation, association or cooperative. Nowadays, the “Stiftung Sternen” is sponsored by Clientis Spar- und Leihkasse Thayngen and the Schaffhauser Kantonal Bank , as the house is no longer an inn and cannot cover the costs itself .

There is already a local museum in the village with an extensive collection in the former Adler inn.
