Hathaway Motor Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded on November 23, 1979 in San Diego , California . Other sources mention Santee in California. In 1981 the production of automobiles and kit cars began . The brand name was Hathaway . Production ended in 1984. According to a source, 15 vehicles were built.

Vintage Motor Works continued production.

The only model was the Hunter , which was based on a design by Mark Goyette from 1975. This was a sports car in the style of British vehicles from the 1950s such as the Triumph TR 4 or a Morgan . The chassis came from Triumph . In question came TR 2 , TR 3 , TR 4, TR 5 and TR6 . Various British Leyland engines powered the vehicles. They made from 2000 cc to 2500 cc displacement between 91 and 111 hp .
