California Component Cars Inc. , also known as the California Component Car Company , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was based in Oakland , California . San José and San Lorenzo are also mentioned differently . The production of automobiles and kit cars ran from 1977 to 1984. The brand name was California Component Cars , abbreviated to California Component in one source .

vehicles

The Sterling model corresponded to the British Nova . A chassis from the VW Beetle formed the basis. A flat two-seater body was mounted on top. The hinged roof instead of side doors was striking.

The Sovran model was a revised version of the Sterling . The lower part of the body was longer. The wheel cutouts were angular. There were pop-up headlights on the front of the vehicle . The rear hood was also different.
