Replicars Inc.

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Replicars, Inc. was an American automobile manufacturer from 1976 to 1980 in Palm Beach , Florida was established. The company was founded by Jack Faircloth and his son Joel , who had founded Glassic Industries, Inc. in 1966 and who have now partially bought up the company that had gone bankrupt after it was sold in 1971.

The buildings and some molds for the GRP parts were taken over and the Model A , a replica of the Ford Model A , continued to be built in the shape last manufactured by Glassic. The Ford V8 engines that Glassic had ordered but were no longer accepted could also be taken over cheaply at a price of US $ 1500 each.

The new Replicars was also available as a Roadster and Phaeton , each with two doors. The Ford engine had a displacement of 4949 cc and developed 138 nhp (101.5 kW) at 4000 min −1 . But sales were apparently sluggish.

From 1979 Joel Faircloth tried to gain additional market share by also offering his Model A as a kit car . However, the public interest remained low.

In 1980, Replicars closed its doors forever.
